Books coming out to be excited about

Dark Flame (Immortals)

Dark Flame: The fourth book in the 'Immortals' series by Alyson Noel. This book comes out June 22nd 2010. This is the only series/author besides the Twilight Saga, that I have all of the books of. That should tell you this is a series worth reading if you haven't yet. You still have plenty of time before it's release to catch up. It's an easy read about a typical girl who falls in love with a boy, enter conflict: he's immortal, and all immortals have enemies.

Love Bites (Vampire Kisses, Book 7)

Love Bites: Vampire Kisses book 7 by Ellen Schreiber
This is a really awesome series that keeps you wondering for a LONG time, is Alexander or isn't he a vampire? Without giving anything away, Raven is an girly but goth outcast in her rich preppy town that has lurked around an abandoned mansion for years, until one day she gets caught by it's new inhabitant. She isn't the only who who has seen him however, and around town, as they are courting each other the rumors fly.

Mockingjay (The Final Book of The Hunger Games)

Mockingjay: The final book in The Hunger Games Series by Suzanne Collins
The first book, The Hunger Games, I had seen sitting in the various bookstores on display in my favorite section for months but was hesitant to read it, because truthfully, it didn't sound like it was my type of book. A friend convinced me to read it though and OMG I am so glad she did. This is an awesome story of adventure, while still being science fiction enough to capture my attention and had enough star-crossed lovers to make me bite off all my nails. It has the same appeal as Twilight in that, neither of her two guys that she has to pick between is a BAD guy, they are just different, and same as Jacob and Edward each have their 'teams', there are people rooting for each of Katniss's prospects. I only wish this book were out now, although knowing its the last in the series then what would I have to look forward to?

OH! I know! ------

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: An Eclipse Novella (Twilight Saga)

The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner: A Twilight Novella - Stephanie Meyer

Drool. Luckily I don't have to wait much longer for this. As much as I mention Twilight on here, this is probably going to get flagged by Google as a Twilight fan blog. And I'm ok with that. Seriously though, for all of us who were broken hearted at the end of Breaking Dawn, the Twilight Sagas final book, having something on the horizon from Stephanie Meyer and Twilight related even, is just a big breath of relief.

Sigh.

Valiant - A Modern Tale of Faerie

I must say, I was pretty disappointed when I started reading Valiant, to find out that this story didn’t continue the story of Kaye and Roiben, but I was easily immersed in this book regardless. This is the story of a girl who runs away from NJ to NYC after she catches her mom and her boyfriend together. Yeah, I know. So she ends up on the streets and meets some friends who introduce her to a whole new world of fairies. Of course, while enchanting, the fairy world is a grim and dangerous place for a human to be aware of, much less involved in, and much excitement ensues.

I will not that author Holly Black continued the alternative, grunge, dirty girl theme that she did in the first novel which was surprising, I thought with new characters she would explore a different … character, but not really. In the first novel she had a drunk mom who was in a band that she took care of and her lifestyle showed it, and in this one she kept the new character grungy as well – from punching guys in the face to shaving her head, to shooting up fairy dust. Kind of disturbing/ not something you can relate to. Nevertheless an ok read.

Somehow I'm in the middle of reading three books

Oh no! How did this happen? I'll tell you how: Was down to 1 book from library, so I had no choice but to start it to have something to read even though it didn't look very good, turns out, it is pretty good, THEN got another book from library, for some reason started that book as well. Saturday I got yet ANOTHER book from the library and since I was riding in a car (not driving) with nothing to do, I started reading it. Help. I have problems.
I'm reading Tantalize by Cynthia Smith, Valiant: A Modern Fairie Tale by Holly Black, as well as Bond of Blood; A Texas Vampire Novel by Diane Whiteside.

Sadly I also have started two accelerated summer classes so I won't be finishing any of them with the quickness, but so far I think Valiant is the best.

Pretty Little Dirty - Amanda Boyden

This is the first book I can recall reading as an adult for fun. It is pretty twisted and messed with my head for a long time after reading it but it is still marked as my favorite.

From Publishers Weekly:
Girlhood friends bolt from their innocence with a mixture of eagerness, ignorance and regret in this winning coming-of-age saga, told with candor and aptitude. In 1976, Lisa and Celeste move, from Chicago and New York respectively, to Kansas City, Mo., and enter sixth grade. Celeste is a blinding beauty; Lisa, who narrates, jumps readily into the welcome of Celeste's picture-perfect family, eager to efface her own dark home life. The girls mark every milestone together, from wilderness camp and first kisses to dances, drinks and loss of virginity. By the middle of high school, boys, and the real power a girl might wield over them, spawn ravenous sexual appetites in both. Their search for new summer conquests leads them to the edgy world of older art school students and '80s punk rock, each experiment with sex and drugs opening a new door onto another. Celeste and Lisa turn down paths marked by danger signs visible from a great distance, yet Lisa's voice is absolutely immediate. Shocking in its casual erotic frankness and enlightening in its drawing of shallow relationships, this novel gets the complexity of childhood friendships dead right, as well as their importance in shaping who one becomes.

Why didnt I think of this sooner

This blog that is. I would have a million posts, which my husband can vouch for! I can't stop reading! This blog is about what book I have just finished reading and a summary of it, including any mistakes I find in the book. That really irritates me when they misspell words. I'm allowed  to on this blog though because it's mine.
