Matched - Allie Condie

Anyone read this yet? This was just what I needed to get myself out of my book funk. Amazing storytelling.

School's Out! And I'm Skipping Town - Several Updates

No More Excuses Right?? --- Wrong!

I am currently enjoying very very much suffering through, the remaining Gossip Girl novels. Luckily they are easy reads and I am flying through them. I don't think they deserve individual blog's same as the Private and Privilege series, so reviews will just have to wait.

That said, I am mid two other books as well.
Paranormalcy - Kiersten White

Paranormalcy

So far so good, but I had to put it down to finish and return these GG novels that are very overdue.

AND

Beastly - Alex Flinn

Beastly

Has anyone else read this? It is just ok and I might not finish it because my good books are VERY backed up.

What do I mean by backed up? Well, I am leaving the country for a year on my sailboat and therefore will mostly have to stick to ebooks. They take up less space and I don't have to return them to the library. Unfortunately that means I will also have to start paying for my expensive habit but that is ok. So anyways, since the library has a slim selection of ebooks I have to hurry through the non ebooks before I leave and save the ones available as an ebook for while I'm cruising. I will still blog as I have time.

I got this gorgeous book as an ARC in the mail that once I start cruising I am going to read, I am saving it for now, but if it is as good as the cover then God help us, please release the next one asap.

N00ky!!!!

I got my Nook this weekend. Oh yeahhhh. My husband won't let me have it until my birthday but I am still v. stoked! I decided on the $149 wifi only version - much as I wanted to splurge on the color one I couldn't rationalize it. Now I just have to figure it out and get books on it! I hope it doesn't take awhile to learn because I do NOT want anything slowing me down from reading!!

Speaking of which, the college semester is winding down, only 1 week to go, then I can focus on what's really important : YA vampires<3 <3 <3

Does anyone else have a nook and have any must-have accessories for it?? I need to cute - it- up

Almost to Die For [Vampire Princess Series] - Tate Hallaway

Almost to Die For: A Vampire Princess Novel (Vampire Princess of St. Paul)

This was a fun read! I was hesitant because it involved witches which I usually stay away from, but it actually turned out really great and I can't wait for the second one. (When that will be IDK but keep me updated!). One great thing about this book that I am a sucker for is dual loves. Which should she pick? Nikolai or Elias?

The Haunted- Jessica Verday

The Haunted (The Hollow, Book 2)

Has anyone read this yet? I am doing this awkward thing where I am forced to put it down to like read a school book or go to work (gasp!) or something else equally not as fun as reading Y.A and then... I have no desire to come back to it. I force myself to though because I am like halfway through and then I am sucked back in and wonder 'how could I have ever thought that' and then I repeat the process. Love, put down, forget, drag ass, start reading again, love. wonder why?

This book is utterly forgettable. So while its a good read, don't stay away from it for any length of time or you might be tempted to not pick it back up again and finish.

Also I am reallly confused because I thought in the first one the author spent a lot of time making her character like you know a major goth. and possibly her twin (see back cover insert thing). Ok So I get that. Slightly overweight, unruly (yet gorgeous curls) and goth. cool. But in this book, I have mention of unruly curls only once so far and no goth mentions. She is wearing white sundresses with like daisy's on them? I can't picture this girl anymore. Maybe that's why this book is so forgettable. idk.

Immortal Beloved - Cate Tiernan

Immortal Beloved (Immortal Beloved (Cloth - Trilogy))

This book was so amazing! I was devastated that on the last page it showed that we would have to wait until Sept 2011 for the next in the series. This is one of my favorites, but having to wait a year is not cool. By then I'll have forgotten how in love with the first one I was. :(

Extraordinary - Nancy Werlin

Extraordinary

This book started out strong, a nice good fairy tale that kept me engaged and wanting to find out how it ended, but then I was kind of disappointed at the ending. Anyone else read this and have an opinion? That cover sure is pretty though and I would still recommend reading it.

I'm Sorry Guys, but you are going to be so jealous (I'm even jealous of myself)

I was able to receive digital ARC's of several awesome looking books, but the one I am most excited about is Afterlife by Claudia Gray. I am a huge fan of the series Evernight and after Twilight it is probably the best series I have found yet. The book doesn't come out until March 2011 so I am of course strutting my cool stuff all over the place but anyways, I will read it asap and the others. In the meantime check out the hot covers of these books I got (digitally of course but still)

EDIT: I have found out I am supposed to wait to post reviews until closer to the release of these books, but I have almost finished Afterlife and it does not disappoint!

Afterlife - Claudia Gray

The Lying Game - Sara Shepard

The Lying Game

One in a Full Moon - Ellen Schreiber (another favorite author of mine ---squeeealll!!!!)

This is relevant because I say it is

So we all have the New Moon soundtrack and love Anya Marina's Satellite Heart. RIGHT?!!!

Check out her latest geniusness.
(It's a cover of T.I's version for those of you who live under a rock....)

Shade - Jeri Smith-Ready

Shade

OK I finished this book last night and I just have a few things to say. First of all, this book was amazing. I'm now just sad it took me so long to read. I guess because its cover is so similar to Swoon, and Bleeding violet and even kind of The Dark Divine. I dunno. Anyways so this book was sooo great it had all of the elements,

1. Love triangle
2. Me crying
3. Me caring when the sequel comes out

and as an added bonus it takes place in Baltimore and surrounding areas and I am from MD also so hearing the names of all those places I know about was cool -- however, I wonder how it would be for a non-local. Like... she talked about places so much (or maybe I just noticed them alot since I know where they are) that I wonder if non locals are like wtheck is she talking about or more importantly WHY is she talking about that, as in: why do I care what the street name is? Does that make sense? Who knows, and like I said maybe I only noticed because I know the area and all books are like that.

Anyways so this is freaky.... I finished it last night ... Oct 19th, the same day Logan was born AND died. (He died on his birthday) so that is weird right? I had chills when I finished, and also today (the 20th) is my husbands birthday. oooOOOOoooo.

No I'm not old I just got married young!!! : P

Delirium - Lauren Oliver

DeliriumDelirium

This book won't be released until early next year but doesn't it's description sound a lot like Scott Westerfield's Uglies series? Granted, in Uglies, being ugly was what the government cured and here it is love, but you get the idea....

Love has been declared a dangerous disease, and the government forces everyone who reaches eighteen to have a procedure called "the Cure," in Lauren Oliver's stunning second novel, DELIRIUM. Lena Haloway is very much looking forward to being cured and living a safe, predictable life. She will be evaluated by the government, which will choose her husband for her. But then she meets Alex, a boy from the Wilds who is living under the government's radar, and she falls in love, threatening both their lives.

In this world, affection is prohibited. Touching and hugging are suspicious behaviors, even among family members. But despite government obtrusiveness, people find ways to connect and to be together. Hana finds like-minded people through embedded links on websites. And after meeting Alex, Lena understands that an emotional connection to another person is something she's always been missing--and now it's something she won't live without.

Extraordinary - Nancy Werlin

Extraordinary

Has anyone gotten this yet? I have it at home and I cannot wait to read it! This cover is gorgeous! I hope it is as hard to put down as it is to stop looking at.

Bitten & Smitten - Michelle Rowen

Bitten & Smitten (Immortality Bites, Book 1)

This book sat on my shelf awhile because of the cheesy cover but it was actually a good read. By good, I mean I was able to finish it which is more than I can say for some of the books I have read recently, but don't expect any teen angst here, this is a little more saucy and grownup love. Good news is it's part of an established series so you don't have to wait for the next one to come out!

Out of my genre, but still interested

OK OK, I know I have been a total traitor to my blog and my fellow YA fang-fiction readers, but you probably already know the reason I haven't been blogging is because I am reading ALL of the Gossip Girl, Private and Privledge novels, and while I love them, I just don't think they deserve their own blog.

Anyways, I am having a shortage of good series to read, there are always new supernatural books, but I love a good established series so I don't have to wait, and want to know if anyone has read any of the Luxe novels or Pretty little ... novels? Are they worth a read? As for the Luxe novels, look at that gorg cover.

The Luxe

Raised by Wolves - Jennifer Lynn Barnes

Raised by Wolves
I have been reading so much garb'age' (it sounds better if you say it french-like) lately I have been completely uninspired to write....

That was until I read Raised By Wolves.

I won't lie, I am only halfway through and if I have any icomplete sentences or other silly errors in this post it is because I stayed up half the night reading half the book before forcing myself to go to sleep. I honestly haven't been this into a book since Twilight. I am not comparing it to that series, but my eagerness to finish this book is comparable. Such as.. Can I get away with reading this at red lights? What about My desk? Haha.

It didn't start out strong and I was really worried I wasn't going to like it, in the first chapter the author spends a lot of time discussing from the main characters point of view, her relationship with the alpha. It's like ok, we get it, your thisclose and he's 'cool' get on with it. BUT -- she quickly recovers and the story is amazing so far and I'm jealous I don't have the talent to write anything this mesmerizing.

I can't help but think it's eerily similar to the Mercy Thompson series though. Eerily. Did Patricia Briggs take on a YA pen name?

Wow how did I get so behind

Well I got a couple of bad books that has discouraged me, and I have been trying to lightening speed my way through the private and gossip girl novels. I don't want to review those but I am hooked on reading them!

The novels in question are

Betrayal - Gillian Shields, Linger - Maggie Stiefvater

These are two follow up novels. I'm just going to be honest and say that I made it / forced myself halfway through Linger before I gave up trying to remember what the first one was about (Googling it didn't help jog my memory). Either way, I checked it up to a lost cause and quit since I had no emotional attachment to the characters). Betrayal, I had a lot of other books on my plate and the beginning of this novel didn't do anything for me and I didn't really like how the first novel in this series Immortal ended so I gave up on this one too.

I know, I am the WORST.

Let's not even go into how I can't finish Wuthering Bites. I got it because I can't finish Wuthering Heights and thought it would be easier to swallow/suffer through. Wrong! Has anyone successfully finished the original or the Bites version? Sigh. I will keep trucking through it, but not until I finish these GG novels and the Private Series.

Getting Copies of Books and publicity

From looking at others blogs, some blog writers say things like 'oh I can't request ARC's because my mailbox runnith over with books I didn't even request and I don't have time to read them all'

Say WHAATTT???

How is this happening?!! I have read to request ARC's from publishers. I don't exactly know what that means. Say a book is published by Penquin, am I supposed to contact Penquins marketing department and tell them the book name? And repeat each time?

Also, I have tried repeatedly to get on the YA book blog directory in hopes of increasing my followers with the idea that more followers = more free books, however I can't seem to get on the list?! If anyone has an 'in' with the blogger over there please let her know that I am a unique blog. Unique meaning, last time I checked for my blog I was VERY excited to see I had been added. Kind of. Instead of 'Hey read this book' there was a blog titled 'Read this Book'. After following the link I realized that this is not my blog and I am thinking when she receives my requests she thinks I am already on the list.

How do you receive ARC's? I don't even care if they are ARC's or just new releases, or books in my YA genre that aren't receiving a lot of press etc.

You know you love me

WG (writer girl)

(I'm currently reading GG novels and HAD to do it. I won't do it again though, promise)

The Eternal ones - Kirsten Miller

The Eternal Ones

Wow. So this was an amazing book! I wasn't sure if it was up my alley as far as the genre. The description makes it seem kind of supernatural but not really, but it turned out far greater than my expectations. As an added bonus, it is thick! So I got the enjoyment for longer.

There are some people who keep coming back in life, whether it be love, or hate, or desire. Haven is one of those people. She doesn't understand her visions and try's to squelch them for as long as she can since everyone in her hometown thinks she is a freak and her grandma believes she is possessed by the devil himself. After a few events, she starts to believe she is seeing a past life and escapes her small town in search of the boy she has dreamed about her whole life in order to find out the truth once and for all.

She isn't the only one who keeps coming back and not everyone is coming back for pure love. Or rather, those that do, may not be as pure of heart as she is.

This one flaw or thing I found in this book that I didn't like was that it kept saying that only a few people come back for more rounds, however, the requirements to come back aren't much (love??) so why wouldn't everyone keep coming back? It kept being brought up and each time it just jelled weirdly in my mind. but hey, great book regardless.

Visit to the bookstore tonight! New Books *Wishlist*

The Eternal Ones - Kirsten Miller
The Eternal OnesI actually am about to start reading this book when I finish blogging. I am kind of nervous because it doesn't seem exactly up my alley, but it keeps popping up everywhere I look so I am going to give it a try.

Unraveled - Gena Showalter (sequel to Intertwined)
Unraveled
Am I a bad blogger for not knowing about this book before today? I really enjoyed the first one, so I am super excited to get this book and read it.

In intertwined the first novel in this series, Aden has more problems than your run of the mill boy, in that he has 4 souls, stuck in his mind, listening to, reacting to, and discussing with him every little thing he does. He also attracts the dead,... that is, being near them wakes them and they try to kill him. Thne he meets Mary Anne, and she neutralizes whatever it is going on in his brain and they become connected. That itsself is not without problems. It has been a long time since I read this book and for that I apologize for not being able to give a stellar recap, (thus the reason I started the blog!) HOWEVER, I do remember this being a great book and I can't wait to get my hands on Unraveled and see how this story continues.

Nevermore
Nevermore - Kelly Creagh

Is this just the sexiest cover you've ever seen in the young adult section or what?
The back of the novel reads like so, and I will be sure to review it once I get a copy.

Cheerleader Isobel Lanley is horrified when she is paired with Varen Nethers for an English project, which is due—so unfair—on the day of the rival game. Cold and aloof, sardonic and sharp-tongued, Varen makes it clear he’d rather not have anything to do with her either. But when Isobel discovers strange writing in his journal, she can’t help but give this enigmatic boy with the piercing eyes another look.

Soon, Isobel finds herself making excuses to be with Varen. Steadily pulled away from her friends and her possessive boyfriend, Isobel ventures deeper and deeper into the dream world Varen has created through the pages of his notebook, a realm where the terrifying stories of Edgar Allan Poe come to life.
As her world begins to unravel around her, Isobel discovers that dreams, like words, hold more power than she ever imagined, and that the most frightening realities are those of the mind. Now she must find a way to reach Varen before he is consumed by the shadows of his own nightmares.

His life depends on it.

Paranormalcy
Paranormalcy- Kiersten White

This book I have actually been reading about for a while in an email newsletter I get. Seems they are promoting it hard. I don't know much else about the book except what I read on the inside cover which is as follows...

Evie's always thought of herself as a normal teenager, even though she works for the International Paranormal Containment Agency, her ex-boyfriend is a faerie, and she's the only person who can see paranormals for what they really are.

The Haunted (The Hollow, Book 2)

The Haunted - Jessica Verday (The Hollow, Book 2)

Did anyone else notice that The Hollow got a new cover? A few books tonight I noticed at the bookstore actually got new covers. The are already popular books, and new at that, so why the new cover? IDK. Either way, The Hollow, was a great book and to refresh your memory, Abbey's best friend vanishes and everyone assumes she is dead. The two goths spent nearly all their time at the local cemetary and while dealing with Kristens dissapearance, Abbey isn't scared away from their safe hideout and learns things about her best friend that she is hurt to find out.

Betrayal (Immortal)
Beytraval - Gillian Shields ( Sequel to Immortal)

In Immortal, Evie is at an all girls boarding school where she somehow meets Sebastian, a handsome stranger that will only meet her at night. Turns out she is the descendant of someone important to Sebastian and for him to 'live' he must kill her. Considering they have fallen in love this is quite the predicament that hopefully the sequel Betrayal can clear up for us.

Before I Fall
Before I fall - Lauren Oliver

We have all heard of this book or at least we should. The thing I am wondering is why? This is not my normal genre but it keeps popping up everywhere I turn. Has anyone read this? Is it worth my time, or is it just another pretty cover?

Prophecy of the Sisters (Prophecy of the Sisters Trilogy, Book I)

Prophecy of the Sisters - Michelle Zink

Twins, one fated for good, one potentially fated for evil. Nough said.

Fangs for Freaks (Half-Blood Vampire Novels)

Fangs for Freaks - Serena Robar

This new series looks VERY promising, except that it looks almost too easy of a read. Maybe just meant for a little younger audience than me, but I still want to check it out. This is a series about a sorority house for half blood vampires.

Immortal Beloved (Immortal Beloved (Cloth - Trilogy))Immortal Beloved - Cate Tiernan

After taking a picture of this book on my camera phone and coming home and looking it up, I am really kicking myself for not buying it. Amazon and Barnes and Noble online show it's release date as not being until Sept 7th but my bookstore already had it. Weird. From Amazon, the first paragraph about this book is this "Nastasya has spent the last century living as a spoiled, drugged-out party girl. She feels nothing and cares for no one. But when she witnesses her best friend, a Dark Immortal, torture a human, she realizes something's got to change. She seeks refuge at a rehab for wayward immortals, where she meets the gorgeous, undeniably sexy Reyn, who seems inexplicably linked to her past"

I'm sold. I want this book now.
